Sony Xperia XZs now part of companys Open Device Program

Sony has added a new name to the list of devices that are part of its Open Device Program. The newly-added device is the Xperia XZs. This means that now you can build and flash custom versions of Android Nougat on the phone.

For those who arent aware, the Open Device program provides you access and tools to build and test your custom software on a range of Sony devices. The Japanese company provides build guide as well as the necessary software binaries that are required in order to get started.

Samsung Galaxy S6 active starts receiving Marshmallow update

The Samsung Galaxy S6 active, which was launched as an AT&T-exclusive in the US last year, has finally started receiving the Marshmallow update. Carrying a build number of MMB29K.G890AUCU3CPE4, the update brings along Android version 6.0.1.

Weighing in at around 1.4GB, the update also includes the WiFi calling feature, in addition to the usual Marshmallow goodies such as Doze, Google Now on Tap, and redesigned app permissions.

As is usually the case with OTA roll-outs, it might take some time for the update to hit your device. Meanwhile, if you feel impatient, you can manually check for it by heading to the Settings menu on your handset.
