Microsoft lumia 640 Review
KyleVPirate July 10, 2015, 6:18 am I recently got the T-Mobile model at my local Walmart to replace my sadly deceased Nexus 5 until the new Nexus model this fall and I have to say for 99 dollars and with the package at that price. Its outstanding and no one should be complaining. In fact I have a 32 GB SD card slot and Memory is no worry for me.
If you spend 29.99 U.S. dollars on a phone then you arent going to get a world class phone that you can hear the conversation like you are standing next to the person on the other end. Or are you getting a camera with polished lenses that takes portrait quality photos. Its not going to multi task or be super responsive. You are getting a cheaply made, inexpensive, basic entry level phone more than likely made in a country wher e the employees are paid with pennies a day or food scraps. You get what you pay for.
MattMe May 7, 2015, 10:06 am Im moving to Windows phone on my next contract renewal for sure.Youll find the app store fattens up a great deal when Windows 10 for phones is released. They have announced that Android and iOS apps will be easy to port across to the Windows store.
Had my 640 for a couple of months. Mild use, getting close on 3 days before charging. Thats with Bluetooth, location services & wifi all on along with push email from Exchange. Didnt buy it for 3D gaming, got an Xbox one for that. But as a phone for using as a work tool. Bought it as an interim phone till the nex t high end Lumia comes out.
Colours are rich, as well, and theres a decent level of contrast which helps make dramatic movies on Netflix -- such as the awesome snowboarding movie "Art of Flight" -- look particularly luscious. The sheer size of the display provides a more immersive feel, too. Its bright enough to counter the overhead lights in the CNET UK office, although it may not fare as well in the bright summer sunshine.

Im getting a problem with the language, there is no Burmese, telephone operators used to send messages in Burmese. No one could change or put new. Please help me how to manage it.
The phone’s motion tracker does a nice job of tracking your steps (it recorded about 8,400 steps when my Microsoft Band tra cked 8,200 for the day) and automatically keeps track of how far you bike and drive, too. The glance screen now offers numerous options, and you now have control over app permissions—what apps get access to specific phone functions. Unfortunately, the Lumia 640 lacks the “Hey Cortana!” active listening feature available on the Lumia 930.
You can buy the phone SIM-free directly from Microsoft in the UK for £120, or get it for free on a range of contracts starting at only £13.50 a month. The phone will be coming to the US, although its currently listed as "coming soon" on Microsofts site and prices arent yet known. In Australia its available outright and will cost you AU$299.
Been using the Lumia 640 LTE for almost a week now. And all I can say is that its totally worth the money. Camera ir pretty amazing for the price, the speaker is pretty loud and the internal memory is enough for me, and a big plus is that you can add a SD card. The 4G network signal is pretty strong too, sometimes it drops in some places, but mostly its good. The Snapdragons 400 performance is also amazing, I can play games like: Asphalt 8, Modern Combat 5, Dungeon Hunter V etc, with some frame drops here and there, but its quiet satisfing. And the front facing (selfie) camera and its 0.9MP is dam* good too, well, in lower light conditions it makes some imaging noise, but not too bad. The display is quiet high quality and the out-door visability is good, but could be a bit better. In one words, for early 2016 its a very good phone for daily use and if you are still thinking to buy it, sure go ahead. And if you want some Android applications on this Lumia just use Windows Insider and install Windows 10 Preview build and you can easily install Android APPS trought your PC easy as pie.
When I received the Microsoft Lumia 640, I was not especially impressed. My review device was constructed of a glossy c yan plastic, which was unpleasantly reminiscent of older Samsung devices.
Battery life, however, has improved, in part due to the larger 2,500mAh battery that Microsoft included. That’s good enough for 36 days of standby time, 17.5 hours of 3G talk time, and 10.8 hours of browsing via Wi-Fi, according to Microsoft. It easily cruised through a day’s use.
jz100 August 17, 2015, 3:05 am I have this phone but I dont see how your battery barely moves when idle. Mine sitting idle drains 1% per hour doing nothing.

There’s not a whole lot to see on the front of the Lumia 640. It’s dominated by the 5” display, with only a handful of things positioned on the bezels around it. You may notice that you can see the touch array when light shines on the phone in a certain way. This is common on many phones, but its a bit more noticable on the Lumia 640 than other devices. The bezel at the bottom of the display has a microphone to be used during calls, while the top has the front-facing camera and the earpiece speaker. Microsoft has seen fit to also put their logo on the top bezel, just in case you missed the logo right in the middle of the back cover.
